TOP-10 global forecasts of IDC in the field of digital transformation

According to the IDC forecast, despite the pandemic, direct investment in digital transformation during 2020-2023 will grow by an average of 15.5% (CAGR) annually, reaching about $ 6.8 trillion. 

At the FutureScap webinar, IDC analysts Bob Parker and Shawn Fitzgerald discussed key projections for the digital transformation and their impact on companies over the next five years. These forecasts can be a guide in determining the priority of investment in digital. 

TOP-10 global IDC forecasts in the field of digital transformation:

1. A new, digital course of the economy is being formed. By 2022, 65% of world GDP will be provided by companies' digital bet.

2. Digital organizational structures and development plans are becoming more mature. By 2023, 75% of organizations will have comprehensive plans for digital transformation (today such 27%), so we can expect real changes in all spheres of business and public life.

3. Development of digital control systems. By 2023, 60% of Global 2000 executives in their management will focus not on the process but on the outcome, forming more flexible, innovative and empathetic operating models.

4. Even more use of digital platforms and development of ecosystems. By 2025, due to instabilities in the global market, 75% of managers will use digital platforms and ecosystems to adapt business strategies to new markets, industries and ecosystems.

5. The "digital first" approach is beginning to dominate everything. In 2021, 60% of organizations are investing significant resources in shaping the digital experience of employees, transforming the experience between employees and employers.

6. Rethinking business models. By 2021, at least 30% of organizations will accelerate innovation to rethink operational and business models, while shortening the implementation of transformation programs for clear results.

7. Rational use of natural resources and digital transformation. By 2022, most companies will understand the importance of combining digitalization with a resource management strategy.

8. Digital culture. To adapt to the digital economy, in the next five years, half of the organizations will form a corporate culture optimized for digital transformation - customer-centric and data-driven.

9. Expanding the digital experience. In the next two years, 70% of all organizations will expand the use of digital technologies, transforming existing business processes for better interaction with customers, employee productivity, business stability.

10. Business innovation platforms. By 2023, 60% of Global 2000 companies will create their own business transformation platforms to support innovation and development in new circumstances.
