Solution

Databases, information systems, IT services and employee accounts of United Coal Company (the USA), Ferriera Valsider (Italy), Metinvest Trametal (Italy), Promet Steel (Bulgaria), Spartan (the UK), and Metinvest International SA (Switzerland) migrated to the cloud infrastructure.

 

In earlier times, the assets used different storage and backup systems. After migration, the data are in a single cloud system. Microsoft Azure makes it possible to develop, deploy and manage applications in the cloud, as well as store data on servers located in the distributed data centers. In addition to cost savings, service centralization will allow future implementation and standardization of IT services in accordance with Metinvest Group corporate standards.

Technology

Microsoft Azure is a Microsoft cloud platform that includes a set of cloud computing services (servers, storage, networks, software, etc.) to solve business tasks.

Result

  • 100% of servers are transferred to Metinvest domain and brought to the target architecture

  • 60 servers and user accounts from Metinvest enterprises in the USA, Italy, the UK, Bulgaria and Switzerland (1,156 employees) were all transferred to the Microsoft Azure cloud;

  • Service fault tolerance (availability) is ensured at 99.95%;

  • Annual saving is estimated at $ 150K due to a reduction in maintenance cost of server equipment and backup systems and leasing of computers from the third party DPC.

  • A common information security mechanism is put in place.
