Metinvest Digital transferred Metinvest Group overseas assets to Microsoft Azure cloud

Metinvest Digital transferred to the Microsoft Azure cloud all overseas assets of Metinvest Group : UnitedCoal Company (USA), Ferriera Valsider (Italy), Metinvest Trametal (Italy), Promet Steel (Bulgaria), Spartan (Great Britain), and Metinvest International SA (Switzerland)

Thanks to migration, the company centralized IT services of the overseas assets to the target use model, improved manageability of the services, reduced costs for their support, and provided the common information security mechanisms.

Data migration was carried out in full compliance with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) adopted in the European Union. Previously, the assets used different data storage and backup systems and products. After migration to Microsoft Azure, data is backed up on a single cloud. The system enables them to develop, deploy and manage applications in the cloud, as well as store data on servers located in distributed data centers.

In addition to cost savings, centralization of services will allow to further implement and standardize IT service provision in accordance with the common standards of Metinvest Group. Fault tolerance (availability) of services is ensured at the level of 99.95%.

The migration of the overseas assets was the first stage of the project aimed at migrating the entire Metinvest Group IT infrastructure to the Microsoft Azure cloud platform and transferring them to IaaS format. Move to the cloud has many benefits from increased productivity to lower costs. At the same time, the transition to the cloud requires a detailed plan and its precise implementation.
